What is Bacitracin zinc

Bacitracin zinc is a medicine applied to cuts and other skin wounds to help prevent infection. Bacitracin is a germ-killing medicine called an antibiotic. Bacitracin Zinc is one of the most important series products. 
Appearance: white or light yellowishgrey powder,hygroscopic. This medication is used to prevent minor skin infections caused by small cuts, scrapes, or burns. Bacitracin works by stopping the growth of certain bacteria. Small amounts of bacitracin zinc are dissolved in petroleum jelly to create antibiotic ointments. It belongs to a class of drugs known as antibiotics. Bacitracin zinc ointment goes by many different brand names.

Bacitracin is a mixture of related cyclic polypeptides produced by organisms of the licheniformis group of Bacillus subtilis var Tracy, isolation of which was first reported in 1945. Specification: USP30 DMF. Bacitracin zinc overdose occurs when someone accidentally or intentionally swallows products containing this ingredient or uses more than the normal or recommended amount of the product. Some of these include: Bactine First Aid Antibiotic, Foille, Mycitracin, Neosporin Maximum Strength Ointment, Neosporin Ointment, and Topisporin.
